To coordinate the new tile scheme with an existing slate floor, 1 foot of slate was brought up onto the bathtub, to blend with the tile.
New lighting helped to update the look of the bathroom, and the use of pencil-trim tile in variegated tones, combined with field tile and blue accents, brought back a hint of Southwestern style.
This bathroom makeover in Alpine changed the design from 1980s Southwest to a contemporary mix that still hints of the Southwest — surprisingly, and not intended at all!
The use of the pencil-trim tile in variegated tones of the slate floor, field tile and blue accents brought back a bit of Southwest style to this renovation.
The slate floor was existing, and the client did not want to replace it. So, the challenge was to coordinate the new tile scheme with the slate floor. To do that, I brought 1 foot of new slate up onto the bathtub to blend with the tile pattern. Frank Price was the tile installer for the project.
The bathroom cabinets are original. Fresh paint, new faucets from Bath Gallery and a new Caesar Stone top created a brand-new look, and the client saved thousands of dollars by keeping the cabinets.
